So I have Hanna - a very fluffy Orphington. She was born last March and has never laid an egg (too my knowledge). She certainly spends a lot of time hanging out in the next. She gets up - goes out an about - hangs with the other chicks. And at least 2x a day - she hangs in the nest. I think she WANTS to lay an egg - but she just can't. Is this a sign of a broody hen? Maybe that's her calling? She truly seems as healthy as can be.

A broody hen will remain on the nest. Could be she's a late bloomer. Are you feeding a layer ration? Orpingtons are slower to mature so keeping them on a grower longer can help. It's also possible she has a damaged ovary, but she could be laying and as you said you don't know it.
