My bottle baby is now 4 weeks old and doing GREAT!!! But, its time to band him and I"m somewhat nervous about it..Right now he only has one testicle that has dropped (is that normal) My BIL banded all his bucks yesterday and told me was time to do mine

Should I wait to see if his other testicle drops or go ahead and band him?? I'm on spring break next week and it would be a good time to do it so I could be home with him in case there was any complications..
I've never band an animal before..I know he does it all the time, but I worry about it..Open for any and all suggestions.. Thanks

If you are keeping him as a pet I'd wait til he's atleast 8 weeks before banding! I only have one left to band this year and he's 6 weeks now. Generally when I've gotten ready to band both testicles are there, haven't ever had one retain one, but may be another reason to wait alittle longer if you aren't finding #2. It won't do you any good to band only one, you'll just have to do it again when the other one drops (or surgery if it doesn't, either way I'd get them both at the same time rather then separately).

I just banded both of my boys, they are roughly 6 weeks. They were less than happy about the idea, Gomer got over it in a couple of minutes. Goober pouted for a couple of days, but he gets his feelings hurt easily. I had to kind of manipulate Gomer's when I went to band as one was not all the way down at that moment, but both of them are there and soon they won't be
