Question about Black copper marans

Are Black copper marans and French black copper marans the same thing?

There are two different standards of Marans. One standard (French Marans) has feathered legs. That is the variety most commonly found in the U.S. The other standard (British Marans) has clean legs.

So they may be the same thing. It depends what standard the "Black Copper Marans" are bred to.

The US standard calls for feathered legs..... technically they are all the same breed.

I have one of each they look pretty different so far . The fcbm's are still young but they have way more brighter coppering around their neck then my black copper maran and she's almost laying age . I'm really interested in watching them grow out that was kind of why I got both .
