i am not out in my barn that much but i have never seen my golden laced wyandotte leave her spot to eat her drink. she is smart enough to leave that spot once a day and eat and drink right. and if anyone cares, she is 7 days into the chicken eggs incubation and 14 days into the duck incubation, so it is estimated that her eggs will hatch in 14 days. i am really excited, mainly because i want to see her with some duck and some chicken kids.

She is probably coming out to eat and drink when you aren't looking. Believe me, they will make you think that they are going to starve, but they seem to know when to go find a meal.

Don't worry. She will choose the time to leave the nest when there is no one about. They like to be very secretive!

Usually mine leave the nest very early in the morning and then again about 6 pm. They are only off the nest a few minutes - they have a massive poop, then fill up on food and water, maybe a quick dust bath, then run off back to the nest.
