I've looked it up and from what I've found, the Buff Columbian is only recognized in the Bantam, but not the Standard. Is this correct? Why would it be in one and not the other?

My daughter is getting birds ready for the Spring show, and she was wanting to show the Buff.

Thanks!

Shelly

It is only recognized in the bantam form, and only by the American Bantam Association and not the American Poultry Association.

Actually I just started a LF buff columbian project and have the chicks in my brooder. Here is a pic!!
The buff or golden ones are the hens and the silver are the roosters for now. I have four hens and five roosters now just breed and breed some more.

That's what I was wondering too, I didn't know we had any LF BC Wyandottes here in the US, or they are at least really rare here if we do.

Basically a buff columbian is a GL with the laceing removed it is one of the easiest to create. With the chicks the I have in the pic above I used a GL rooster over columbian hens. From this it is a matter of breeding the f1 chicks together in a larger amount (say 20 chicks or so) to get a decent rooster. Once you have a decent rooster there you have it. If more hens or new blood is needed just breed the BC rooster to columbian hens and the hen chicks will be sex-linked gold or a buff coloring.
