Question about chicken Illness Picture *Graphic*

This chicken has been sneezing for some time now, I had brought some others in from a person's flock. They were sneezing, I know big no no I didn't quarintine them. But I cut open his chest and I was wondering if anyone can tell me if it looks like he has any mucus or something. This is the only pic I have. Let me know If I did something wrong. and If you can tell what he had is it curable?

No, I had to put him down , he was gasping for air alot and sneezing terrible. A farmer that I get eggs from told me that if he had a certain disease it isn't curable and my whole flock was in danger.
