okay so i have a silver welsh drake and a gold hen. i wanted to know if i breed them will i get any more golds out of it?
next if i breed a silver hen and a silver drake will i only get silvers?

OK if I am thinking this through correctly - With a Silver drake and a Gold hen you about half of your female ducklings should come out Gold, but not any drakelets although some might carry the Gold gene. The only way to get a gold out of a Silver hen and a Silver drake is if the drake had a Gold parent and is carrying the recessive gene. In that case you could wind up with about one forth of the female ducklings being Gold, but all the drakelets would be Silver phenotype.

good enough odds for me

How many offspring of this pair hatched?
I'm remembering now another WH breeder told me something similiar, that she bred a Gold pair from Holderreads and didn't get any Gold offspring! So there may be a bit more to the Gold/Silver genetics than has been written up in the books that I read.

I have another question for you about WH genetics if that is OK with the OP? Do you know anything about how hooded vs non-hooded is passed down? I also see there is a type that has almost a Magpie type cap on their heads. Is there any way to tell from looking at a drake which type he will sire? Do non-hooded parents (if that's the correct terminology) throw hooded or capped offspring? What do you see with your flock?

Actually to me, the one on the right in front has what I would call a hood, the one behind her on the right has a cap, and the one on the left has something between a cap and a hood, its shaped like a hood from behind but doesn't go down as far on the neck.

Here is the one I have with no hood or cap. I hope to breed more like her, she is my favorite.
