I just bought two ducks at an auction. It was an impulse buy as I was about to leave when I saw them. I think they are khakis, but will post pictures later to get some expert advice. My question is, I paid $7 each for them. I'm guessing that they are about 9-10 weeks old. Not sure of the sex. I don't see a drake feather but it's early from what I've read. Is $7 for a juvenile duck a reasonable price? It doesn't matter, they're mine now and I wanted them, but I'm curious having never bought at an auction before.

I was thinking the same thing, considering he/she fed them and raised them. I just didn't know the going price of juvenile ducks, even if they aren't purebred. I'm excited about them and glad I got them, just curious.

We just came back from a fur and feather swap, and laying muscovy hens about a year old were going for $15 each. Ducklings that were perhaps a week old were going for $5 to $7 each.

They had a pair of silkies go for $8 and from what I read on here, that sounded good too. However, I only have so much room and have about 30 give or take a few in the incubator right now. They also had two white turkey poults go for $10. 4 mallard babies went for $5 but I think that was each. The mixed biddies were going for $1. I cannot go back!!!

It sounds almost like they were just wanting to get rid of some birds to thin out their stock. Congratulations on the good deal.

My Black Runners from the hatchery were $4.85 and from the feed store $7 for Blue Runners. Sounds like a pretty good deal and depending upon where you are they can be out for a bit and you didn't have to put up with peee-yew.

I didn't think about that but being outside immediately is a definite plus!
