This has been a rough hatch so far as this is the second duck that is having issues. He hatched about three hours ago with what I think was maybe a quarter of the yolk outside of his body still, when I found him it had been left in the egg. The yolk didnt have any blood vessels and I didnt notice any bleeding. His naval was open a bit. He is a very active duckling despite all this. He hobbles around a bunch and sleeps like a normal duckling. His breathing seems natural. Is there anything I can do to help his chances of survival since he hatched early and lost some yolk? The navel pic below is from the time of posting this, the residue that was on it has dried up and appears black. Thanks for any suggestions.

Just a quick update, the duckling is still extremely active. Its literally making laps around the incubator. I'm taking this as a good sign of his overall health. I also got the duckling to drink a little sugar water to help perk it up a bit. Will update if things move south for this little guy.

I moved the duckling in with the duckling that hatched yesterday because he was getting a little too active and stretching close to the heating element of the incubator. I figured saftey first and he was mostly dry. The two got in a little argument at first but are now sleeping together! This site has been a great help with these two!

It's not bleeding, but I would keep food, and water to a minimum, until tomorrow. Put triple antibiotic ointment on the naval opening.
