Question about egg turner

Tomorrow I'm renting an egg incubator from a local farm...
It's a styrofoam box with an egg turner and every thing else etc...

It has this as an egg turner:



My thing is... do they hatch on the turner? I would think the turner would not be good for the hatching part.
what happens when they do hatch? i guess you would leave them be for the time period. but anybody used this before?
Does it hurt the chicks?

I accidentally let my chicks hatch in the egg turner once, when I was still starting out with the incubating, and they were okay.

I don't recommend it though.

Good luck with your hatch. I can't wait until my eggs start to hatch in my antique, round galvanized metal incubator.

Usually when it comes time for lock down you take the turner out and lay the eggs on their side.

no - you need to place the eggs (3 or 4 days before hatch) into a hatcher,.

You don't need a Hatcher, but you will need to take out the egg turner on day 18 and lay the eggs on their side. Up the humidity to about 70% these last 3 days of incubation.

A hatcher makes it easier to to staggered hatches, and keeps the incubator clean.

A hatcher, is basically an incubator without a turner, and you bring the eggs from your incubator to the hatcher, making incubator cleanup easy.
