Hello everyone! Love this forum. Been lurking for awhile and learning lots about ducks from all of you! I have 1 pekin hen and 1 khaki Campbell hen left out of my flock that run loose in the fenced in yard and caged at night. Once per year we have a drake and his female friends stop by in the yard. Well this year, I am thinking that drake did more than sit and stare at my khaki hen. Ive noticed since Saturday she staying in the pen and is remaining on her eggs and wont let me anywhere near her without freaking out. She wont leave those eggs. I assume in about a month i could have ducklings but have no clue what i am doing here. Any suggestions?
Welcome! Sounds like she is going broody. The eggs don't have to be fertile for her to go broody. Take one egg from her and open it up to see if it is fertile. It is fertile if it has a bulls-eye, not just a dot.
