Just wondering, if I have one rooster and 4 hens in a small backyard flock, are all my eggs almost guaranteed to be fertile? (I see him mating with them regularly) thanks in advance

Thanks for your help I will crack one nowMore than likely, yes. Just be observant to see if he is mating with all hens or if he has a favorite. I'd wait about 2-4 weeks to feel confident about all hens being bred and fertile.
You can also crack the eggs when cooking and look for a bullseye in the yolk! This is a sure way to know your hen is likely fertile.

I would like to in the future, but would rather one of my hens go broody and hatch them their selvesIts a bit tough to see, but it almost does appear to be a fertile egg.
Were you planning on incubating some of your eggs?
