Question about eggs being fertile

Just wondering, if I have one rooster and 4 hens in a small backyard flock, are all my eggs almost guaranteed to be fertile? (I see him mating with them regularly) thanks in advance

More than likely, yes. Just be observant to see if he is mating with all hens or if he has a favorite. I'd wait about 2-4 weeks to feel confident about all hens being bred and fertile.

You can also crack the eggs when cooking and look for a bullseye in the yolk! This is a sure way to know your hen is likely fertile.

Its a bit tough to see, but it almost does appear to be a fertile egg.

Were you planning on incubating some of your eggs?

It's easier with the yolk intact, but I believe I see the bullseye. With only four hens, they should stay fertile. A hen will stay fertile for a few weeks with one good mating session.

I would like to in the future, but would rather one of my hens go broody and hatch them their selves
