Hello my buddies! Hope you all are doing well. Well today I have a question about fertile or infertile eggs.

What are the signs of a fertile egg and an infertile egg?
I have a pair of cochin. Around an year old. I am not getting any fertile eggs from that pair why so ? What's wrinw with them.

Thanks

One of my broody hen started incubating them . 8 of them. None of them hatched. I broke them and found just yolk with a fowl smell. No blood nothing. Now I collected 4 more eaten two. None of them had that bulleye spot.

Why they are producing infertile eggs? Now just two are again under my broody hen. Will candle them and post pics day 5 .

Just have two hens with a rooster, good chances of fertility but I am just surprised that iamI not getting any fertile eggs. Is there any problem with my hens or rooster...totally confused :(

It could be many things. Have you seen him mounting the hens?
Sometimes with fuzzy butt chickens like cochins you need to trim some vent feathers.
Just like hens, roosters need to be photo stimulated meaning when days are short, they may be less fertile.
What is your location?
The issue could be nutritional.
What makes up all the birds' feed?
How old is the rooster and hens?
It is also possible he is firing blanks and needs to be replaced.

He does that. I have seen him doing that. Yes there are lots of feathers around my hens butt.

I am from Pakistan. I add fresh veggies daily into their diet. They are on pallets. Along with corn meal. I feed them seed mix too.

One thing that I have noticed that while doing that dee d my rooster slips a lot towards her head. Lol

Other hen is broody so she is not laying any eggs at the moment.

What should I do should I replace my rooster or hen totally confused .

I will trim some feathers tonight. By the way he is a bit kind of aggressive sometimes lol he doesn't like me to touch his hens.

Over here people wait to have a broody hen, they have eggs to put underneath her...but in my case I have broody hen but no fertile eggs :(
