Hi everyone I have recently hatched some guinea fowl eggs and have noticed that some have red eyes, I've read that it is common but was wondering if anyone knows what causes this. I haven't been able to find anything about it online so far so I'm hoping someone on here might be able to help?
Thanks in advance,
Lucie

It depends on the color of the keets. If the keets are pure white, it may be due to them being albinos.

I recall that Cinnamons have red eyes. In that case it is due to the keets being homozygous for the red eye gene.

You might check with the Guinea Fowl International forums. They were an excellent source of information but since the change in the Internet, I have no idea how to get into their archived forums. They have pretty much killed off forum activity with how they changed.
