I had to be away for about 3 days, during which the humidity went down to 28% in the bator. The eggs are on day 9 now and they have large air cells. Will this make a difference in the hatch? Do I need to keep the humidity a bit higher than usual now so they won't get much bigger?

Thanks in advance.

Your air cells will get bigger as time goes on. Don't change your humidity, what do you have it at now?

I like to keep it in the 40's. Then on day 18 bump it up to high 50's. It's worked well in the past.

There you go. I think it all depends on where you live to because if I do eggs in the bator in January I am always adding water about every other day but now I only seem to have to put it in about every 4 or 5 days.

Your eggs are fine.. I'm new to this hatching thing, but both successful hatches I did more of a dry hatch and my humidity would drop to even23% here and there.. I just added a tiny bit of water trying to stay around 30-40%.. it was a kinda dry hatch thing.. LOL But at the end I had the humidity too high so I was trying to get some out.. with all the mistakes.. my chicks all hatched but one, which had a birthdefect and was not meant to hatch obvioulsy...

so you are all good..

Okay, I don't want to hijack this thread, but I've noticed with the hygrometer in there that my humidity is consistently about 50%. I live in a humid climate--should I not be putting water in the incubator? Am I going to drown my duckies? (Please keep in mind, they are ducks, so the requirement is different.)
