question about location of Jugular for Ivermectin

Dear Speckledhen,
I also have the BLUE ivermectin 5% cattle pour on. I believe it is alcohol based though. Is there any danger of using the alcohol based rather than the oil based. I did read somewhere that you should mix the alcohol based version with equal amount of baby oil mixed in dropper and applied on skin (to help spread the product or to slow down the absorption?) I wondered what the difference is between the alcohol based or the oil based.

Tdgill. The ivermectin pour on that you have is meant to go on bare skin on the back of the neck. It smells like alcohol and once the drops are placed on the skin it is quickly absorbed through the skin into the birds bloodstream. I have used ivermectin pour on before without mixing anything with it. If I'm not mistaken, ivermectin injectable is oil based, but not the ivermectin pour on. I wouldnt use the injectable anyway, it's useless as a wormer in chickens, only effective against mites in chickens.
