Alright, I've had muscovies for a couple of years now.
I have a black pied girl that doesnt lay. We found her wandering around a parking lot in the middle of town so I brought her home a couple years ago. Last January I picked up a chocolate pied drake and they've been doing great, living the happy duck life. Well, on the 30th, I picked up a blue pied female at the poultry show in Stockton.
I've had her for a week now, and two days after I brought her home she laid an egg. She laid one the next day and has not laid another one since.
My question is: Do muscovies have a certain time of the year that they lay? How long do the eggs last if she doesnt set on them? And how long does it take your muscovies to get enough eggs to start setting?
My bator is full of quail eggs at the moment, but if I need to, I could take them to the feedstore to be incubated.
I feel like such a novice!
Thanks,
Jordan
