Hello everyone and happy weekend.

I was checking my girls and Roo when I noticed how long their nailr are. Does anyone know if I should trim their nails? How about the spikes on my Roo? I don't want to hurt any of them.

Thanks
Colette

You can trim his claws and his spur if you want to or feel it's necessary, but you don't have to. I don't clip my chickens nails or spurs because most of mine free range and they may need them. They should wear down naturally.

i have never heard this asked before and am interested in others answers. i guess if they are kept in tight confinements, they may not use them much and they could get too long. you will find them very though, however.

You can trim nails the same way you would trim cat and dog nails. Spurs are different, I don't mess with my rooster's spurs, but there are videos about how to do it on You tube.
