I found 2 ducklings 5 weeks ago long story short. They were crossing 6 lane road and I told my daughter that if they were not run-over by the time we came back from a errands we will save them. One is dead Cracker did not make it past 24 hours after we “save him”and now I have a loud duck. I thought they both were going to die. I am living at this moment in a neighborhood that dont allow poultry. So Cheese is a secret. I will move by the end if July to a house with 2 acres. For now cheese live in 2 dog kennel that my husband but together in my enclosed back porch and until today my neighbored have not complain. I take Cheese out 3 times a day for an hour each time. I have mini pool and a unicorn toy. I have music during the day. I clean his cage every day, every time that cheese is out. Since last week every time that I talk he or she make a alot quake? Noises. After 12 around lunch again noises. Also when we make noise in the house the quake start. The only time that cheese is quiet is at night. Cheese make loud noises but not 24-7. I know that a lot of people will say why you took them home etc. So if anyone can help me. What can I do so Cheese can make it with us in our new house?

Your not going to be able to stop Cheese from quacking, that is what ducks do. Is it a quack? because if it is you have yourself a female. You could try a mirror [and make sure it can't fall on her] in with Cheese that might make her feel more at home, ducks are flock animals so they really need more ducks so once you get moved I hope you'll look for some friends for Cheese. Or bring her inside during the day. so the neighbors can't hear her.

Thank you for saving Cheese. Pekins can't survive in the wild and all small ducklings cannot survive on their own. So you did right to stop and pick them up.

Sad that Cracker died but it happens and you don't know what had happened before you picked it up.

Please feed your female--she must be a female if she is quacking loudly -- duck food and add brewer's yeast or nutritional yeast to the crumbles. Add 1 tablespoon of nutritional or brewer's yeast to each cupful of duck crumbles. Ducks grow faster than chickens and all ducks need added niacin in the form of brewer's yeast or nutritional yeast if they are fed chicken starter crumbles. Pekins grow larger than other ducks so even if fed duck crumbles, they need additional niacin.

So glad you are moving in July to a home that sounds good for backyard ducks!! You might advertise through this forum to get 2 or 3 additional juvenile Pekins local to you to keep your first one company
