I just picked up a pair of standard sized Buff Brahrams. As per my usual when I did research on the breed I failed to see that they were the largest of all the chicken breeds I love the look of them I think they are amazing looking birds but I am turned off because of there size. My question is how big are the bantys of this breed? Should I sell the pair I just bought or buy a Banty roo and start breeding for the smaller size or just buy breeding pair of bantys.

Thanks for your input

We have both standard and bantam versions. The bantams are about 1/4 the size of the standard. Still the great temperament and the same look, just smaller. I would definately go with the bantam version if you are put off by the size of the standards. They are both slow to develope and neither are real great layers. I would stick to buying mated pairs or trios. Trying to breed a bantam roo against a standard hen would be nothing more than comical.

My hens are tiny, I think they are too tiny, but they are tough little ladies. They run the chicken yard, the Roosters back down to them.
I call them my little tea cosys. They have never laid a egg
