Question about treating scaley leg mites

Ivermectin does work for leg mites but because they are so hard to treat a 2 step treatment is used and that is a pea sized amount of ivermectin orally and Vaseline to smother. It is not a good choice for a wormer . it has been used so much that the worms has built a resistance to it. It is hard to over dose with ivermectin so i also smear a little under the wings in that bare spot for extra insurance. most times in the hard to treat leg mites you have to keep the vaseline on them for a while and it dont hurt to treat your coop at the same time.

You might want to research the link posted about "No Pest Strips"; check the Q & A at the bottom.  Not recommended for use around animals, best I can determine.  Just sayin'...

I have researched it quite a bit on dichlorvos (the pesticide in the No-Pest Strips) the drug has a long history with a lot of myth and speculation that has never been proven to be fact, but just that same since the originals were driven off the market by the myths and speculation the companies now offering them are very cautious and have voluntarily changed the usage precautions on their labeling... Many of the 'medications' and treatments we use for poultry are not poultry approved and/or may pose a risk...

There is a never ending list of things that others will not use in their coop or around their birds, and if someone doesn't want to use it then fine there is little point in arguing...
