Question about TV hookup?

My parents have become very hard of hearing in the recent
years. They play their tv so loud I can hear it in their driveway.

Now they complain about the tv volume going up and down by itself.
I've tried explaining that all things are not broadcast the same, causing
the volume to be at different levels.

Tonights question:

If I hook my surround sound system to their tv, will the volume stable
or will it continue to raise and lower?

*haven't had my surround sound hooked up in forever. My wife didn't like
it as much as I did. I could shake the windows. Literally.

Commercials are at a higher volume. Could they maybe get one of those listing devices that amplifies the volume of the t.v. so they don't have to have it turned up?

It's probably that the commercials are so much louder than the show. Maybe they could push the mute button during the commercial?

I guess they also make something called an Automatic TV Volume Controller (about $20) that levels out the volume from channel to channel and between shows.

Try switching fro netflix to Hulu to broadcast TV. UGH.....
