I have been treating one of my 7 wk old silkies for wry neck... it will be two weeks on tuesday... he/she is better but is still having some problems with her neck... if not all better by tuesday do I still give her the poly visol and vitamin e and if so for how much longer... she gets along well and eats and drinks great.. she just ducks her head if she gets scared ,or i go to give her meds... and sometimes walks backwards... she is now back with my other babies because she was acting depressed... and the others have accepted her the way she is..

What kind of feed are you using?

I have a crook neck from an old head injury, she is the first one to react to compromised feed.

chick starter ... not sure of brand no light in feed room... will have to check tomorrow... always used this feed... and had 20 chickes eating it and she is the onlyone with problems... It could be a head injury I guess

I have a barred rock with wry neck, I named her "Rye". She seemed 100% Wed to Friday and then Saturday and today a slight relaspse, stress really seems to cause her to look at me... upside down. A whole lot better then it used to be. I have had her on vit B, vit E and selenium for 3 weeks now. (reduced dose now) and also, because I think her wry neck is from something other than what silkies experience, I have been giving an antibiotic. Apparently some forms of wry can be from bacteria seizing the muscles (rye would have spasms where her beak and head would twist and hit the floor over and over again, she would back up at the same time)
So the antibiotic was for that. She is still on it, I will keep it up for a couple more days for a total of 14 days.
