Question, Crested mallard..

I found out alittle bit ago I have a crest.... Diden know there was such thing as a crest..

lol, now heres my second question
why is my mallard ducklings fluffy stuff (which, i guess makes him a crest) on the side of his head, I thought it had to be on the top, thats what a saw in the other photos of ducks had?

I have no real answer but cute baby!! My cousin's crested Swedish has a crest on the side of its head as well. The bigger it gets, the droopier it gets. We call them hats. lol

"The Mad Hatter" pictured at 3 weeks old. Currently 6.5 weeks old and the crest is a little bigger than a golf ball.
