Hi!
I am new to the site... long time lurker though.
I am day 22 of trying to hatch my first set of babies. I started out with 21 eggs, given to me by a neighbor. 14 of them fertilized. Then at day 14, I had all but one quit developing. I am now down to 1 egg. 9 days ago there was movement & today there's no movement. Sooo bummed that I may not have even 1 egg.
I'm going to attach 3 photos & any advice/input would be greatly appreciated. If it's a goner I have more eggs to try... just not sure how much longer to wait. I'm a teeny bit anxious lol!
Thanks in advance!

PS.. used a Little Giant Still Air Incubator & manually turned them all 3 times per day & kept pretty steady temp and humidity level.
Thanks,
KayRay

That looks like a quitter to me. What did you use for temps and for humidity the first 17 days?

I was afraid of that!

It flucutated greatly... tried to keep it between 99 and 101. Humidity stayed around 30-50%..
Hard to keep humidity level right w/out losing temp...

This was my very first try. Almost too many variables to control for this control freak lol. I hope to try another batch soon.

I will leave it til tomorrow & if nothing will try again.

Thank you for your input.

There's just sooo much information out there & it's not all straight across the board...
Guess it's kinda like raising children... lots of advice & methods and ends up being all about finding what method works best for you.

I love this site though... great information!

With still air incubators shoot for 101-102F. LGs are the hardest to stabilize temp wise. I use an lg. Did you run dry (w/o water in the chambers) or was the fluctuation because water changes. I use the low incubation method and if I can I run completely dry if the bator stays above 25%. If not I add a wet sponge and that usually holds it right around 30%. If the temp starts creeping up first thing I check is humidity. Usually my humidity is drying up so I just re wet my sponge and it evens back out. I monitor air cells to adjust humidity.

Yes, that's exactly it. It's listening to others, taking it into consideration and then finding what works for you and no matter what you choose, as long as it is working, don't let anyone make you feel like you are doing it wrong. I use this method and I have great results: http://letsraisechickens.weebly.com...anuals-understanding-and-controlling-humidity However, someone in a higher elevation or using say, a cabinet incubator may not have the same results.

the water level never really changed much.
i am about an hour north of Atlanta and we have AWFUL humidity in the south... so I am not sure if that played a part or not.
And yes.. bugger is a pain to adjust ... just one minute turn and boom you're up 3 degrees! I kept a small ingredient dish with water & never added water to it... also the chambers tended to leak all over my counter. i kept paper towels in there and kept them wet.

If you want to save time---that egg is no good and you do not need to leave it till tomorrow--------might blow.. It died days back. Sure you should clean the incubator and try another batch-----do use fresh eggs---maybe 2/3 days old if possible, but I have set them 10 days old and had a real good hatch---but I turned them a couple times a day until I set them. Good Luck

Ok. Thank you. So bummed. I'll clean it and try again.
I am so inexperienced. Yall make everything sound sooo easy. Confessin a lil jealousy! Maybe one day I'll get a hatch!!

Don't feel bad. This is my first time incubating and out of 23 eggs only had one that made it. I'm trying again too. Good luck on the next batch.
