Question for everyone in the UK or EU?

Hi everyone! I'm wondering if anyone lives in the UK or EU here in BYC, because I'm wondering how you all got your chickens? Did you get them from a hatchery? If so what kind of hatchery? Did anyone adopt? I got my flock from a local breeder! I'm not new to this site, but I'm wondering if anyone knows any good hatcheries in the EU or UK? I want to eventually start my own hatchery business in the EU where I live! I would sell various ornamental, bantam, and dual purpose breeds! I would be selling either hatching eggs or chicks. I think I'm the only Italian in BYC which actually lives in Italy, but I'm wondering where the other people from Europe are?


Is there anyone else who has started a business from their chickens? Any tips would be super helpful! I read this really cool article about starting a buisness and it helped me out a lot!

Also do I need a NPIP Certified Flock to start a hatchery business in the EU? Or would i need one to ship to the states or UK. I don't plan to ship to the states as that rather risky, but possibly the UK. From what I read if you have less than 50 birds you don't need a permit to sell hatching eggs, but do chicks get involved as well?

So i guess if i was shipping eggs in packs of the dozen i would need to write the country of origin on the box, write the words ‘hatching’ in English, or in the language of the country of origin (Italy), write the poultry species the eggs come from, for example (Ayam Cemani) then finally i would need to write the name and address of my business.
