If I crossed my silkie feathered serama pullets with a Silkie rooster, would the babies turn out silkied.? The pullets parents are normal feather serama, but must carry the silkied gene.

Silkied feathering is recessive. If your bird has silkied feathers, it has two copies of the gene and will pass one along to all its offspring. When bred to a silkied mate, all offspring will have two copies of the recessive gene, and all will be silkied! Cross your Serama to her father and half your offspring will be silkied.

Why must it carry the silkie gene? Was one of the parents silkied? That, or if it already has silkied offspring are the only ways you would know.
