question for sumatra breeders or any longtail breeders

mmk, so made a post on the sumatra association of america but no answers. figured their has to be someone here with them. or any long tails for that matter. question is. What kind of nest should i build? right now all i have is little 5 gallon buckets with holes cut in the top, perfect for my OEs. but it would mess up the sumatras long tails i think. should i place the nest up high, or on the ground? what about pen space? how big should i build the pens? Thanks..

I just have always used 5gal buckets with the lids on them and holes cut in the sides..or rubber made tubs with an entrance hole cut in the end. You don't have to worry about the tails, as the hens will be the one's using the nest boxes..not the roos..so no worry about tails getting messed up. I just use 4x4x8 pens and that is sufficient. Their tails don't get too terribly long..and they have plenty of room.
