Question of the Day - Friday, December 15th, 2023

First, the version I'm sure almost everyone is familiar with:

And now, the rest of the story.

This was originally a Ukranian piece titled "Shchedryk", which was written in 1914 by Ukranian composer Mykola Leontovych. It was an adaptation of a traditional Ukranian folk tale which celebrated the coming New year (and was originally around April in Pre-christian Ukriane).

Here's the original, sung first in English, then Ukranian

Peter Wilhousky wrote the English language version in around 1936 for the NBC Orchestra to perform. It is wildly popular as a performance piece and has been adapted and recorded by more than 150 artists to date. It's also my personal favorite piece of Christmas music.

The Little Drummer Boy. It has much meaning to me,,, since it was the first Christmas Carol Record that we had.
Song was posted a couple pages prior, So I don't need to repost it.
I need to search thru the 33 rpm albums, to see if it still is around. :idunno
