So the Civil War or later then that? Genuine question.

Civil War time would be perfect if I wasn't fighting in it. Soon after it ended would probably be better though.

I was going to just throw out a date, but then the more I thought about it I realized that in each era, I’d be missing out on something that came either before or after me.

That said, I would choose to be born some time in the 1920s.
Then I would have been young enough to have a chance of meeting someone from the Civil War or even earlier, as well as possibly existing long enough to see Reagan and Pope John Paul II.
