I have two true black Ameracauna pullets who just started laying beautiful blue eggs. Unfortunately they were the only 2 hatched.

If I cross them to my splash Blue Andalusian roo, will their offspring produce a blue chicken who lays a lighter blue egg?

Anybody have any idea?

another question, if you cross a brown egglayer (Rooster) on a white egg laying hen, what color eggs will the offspring lay? light brown? white?

If the hen has tow copies on the blue eggshell gene, then all her offspring will receive one copy, and he girls will lay a blue or green egg (depending on the brown coating genes inherited (or not) from their father.

In a black X blue (plumage) mating, half the offspring will be black & half blue.

Iagree with Sonoran Silkies you have 50% chance of blue eggs and becouse the rooster is splash all baby will be blue

if you need a roo I would be happy to send you one lol I have some nice blue and splash Ameraucanas from gary's line I hatched

Oops, I overlooked the SPLASH and just saw blue. Yes, all blue chicks.

Whether all or half the chicks receive the blue eggshell gene depends on whether the mama has two copies or one.
