question on food switching

My chickens are 20 weeks old and i bought a bag of layering feed They are not laying quite yet, but will be antime. Is ito ok to switch them over to the layer feed??

I think you will be just fine switching them. It won't make them lay any sooner, but it will not hurt them either.

That's what I had thought! Someone I work with raises chickens as well, and she was dead certain i should wait a couple more weeks. I always come here when I am in doubt!

The only thing I would add, is to make the switch slowly, NOT all at once. My girls are 19 weeks and I'm starting to switch them over to layer this week. I do 80%/20%, 60/40, 50/50 and so on until they are all switched over. It takes a couple of weeks, and is better for them.
