Our 4 month old mallard ducks started laying eggs. We found 2 today. Are they good to eat ? How many do they lay does anyone know ? We have 3 male and 3 female. I have only seen the alpha male mating. One of the males cannot quack when he opens his bill. I hope he is ok. Thank you for any info on this !!

The normal amount of eggs is about 12 eggs, laid at one to two day intervals. Yes, you can eat mallard duck eggs but I would suggest that you freeze the eggs before you eat them. Also, duck eggs in general are a great replacement for chicken eggs if you are allergic. I have no idea what is wrong with your drake(Male duck), maybe he had an injury or something. I would take him to a vet.

. These are the 4 eggs that we found from our 4 month old mallard ducks. We have not put them in the fridge. Will they be ok to eat ?

Yeah. As long as they are not fertile or have been in an incubator go ahead. As I said, duck eggs are a great substitute for chicken eggs. What we like to do is let the ducks go free in our backyard in the morning then the kids go running around with baskets looking for sunday morning brunch.Have fun!!!!
