I had a weasel attack our chickens. I had one surviving and I ended up having Princess pts because she was just declining and barely hanging on.

I now have just one remaining chicken who has been living in an unheated room in my house.

I am going to make a coop out on the back porch for her. Is it ok for her to go out there? I'm worried she is going to be cold. Its not really warm in the spare room, but its warmer than outside.

So, will I have to heat it for her? What can I use for heat? Would a light be good enough?

I feel so bad for her being alone, but I live in the mountains of NH and its not the right time of year for chicks. And from what I'm reading its appears to be challenging introducing new chicks anyhow.

She doesnt seem too bothered being the only chicken. She follows me around all day and has a mirror that she really enjoys.

If the room you are going to have her in is not heated...DEFINATELY look around for her another friend. Either way....chickens are flock animals...they need friends around them. You might put an add on craigslist...looking for a few hens. Then, just put the newbies in a dog crate, in the room with her for a few weeks. They should be fine. There might be a little pecking...to establish the order..but she needs a few friends.
