I do as a predator deterrant. I have done the same with my corn, so If figred it might be effective.

I know my friends keep a radio on for their horses, I think for "company" or "calming" purposes.

It never occured to do that for my chickens - and what a great idea about keeping predators away.

I'm going to put one in my barn tonight.....but have to run a verrrryyyyyy long extension cord.

I keep one in the kennel for the dogs, but it is to mask outside sounds so the dogs don't bark at every neighbor's laugh or car backfire. Since chickens like to cackle when they hear something, maybe it is to keep the chickens quieter?
