We just got some baby Cornish chicks March 11th. I have never raised Cornish before and i was wondering when i stop feeding them the medicated chick starter and on to the corn feed? Thanks everyone!

I only fed mine medicated for a week and a half. I am totally new too this too, but that's what I was told, a week to 2 weeks. So I went for the middle

Hope that helps!

Game Feed/Meat/ Finisher - its a higher protein. Your local grain store should be able to tell you what they have for meat birds. It should be no less than 20% protein.....again thats just what I have been told and I only lost 1of my 25 meaties ( and the only reason I lost the one is because I lost my balance and landed on one - how embarrasing right!)

Go with the higher protein feed to maximize growth of the meaties. Corn based food is less protein most of the time, but read the label. 20% minimum is right but higher is ok as well. They are on this diet until D-Day!! Protein is to build up muscles (ie MEAT!!) and these birds use that protein more efficiently for muscle production. They have been breeded and selected for just such a trait. The dual purpose birds are slower growing but do get good sized, though more feed is used, costing the owner more per pound of bird.
