Questions about Easter Eggers

Wow- thanks for all the info! It has helped a lot. It would be a fun experiment, none the less, to hatch out a few EE chicks and see what I get.

chickens are so much fun!

Tailfeathers - I was trying to keep it simple, so only discussed the one locus that was of interest, but still get the basic genetics out there. An EE can either an OO or an Oo genotype, so one can't generalise about its offspring the way one can about a purebred.

I said "blue/green" to mean blue or green, to allow for the possibility of brown covering the blue if the other breed(s) involved were brown egg layers.

And yes, an Amer x Welsummer hen will give lovely olive green eggs.

Mine just started laying eggs last wednesday and they have all been green except for the last one, it was blue. But, when I washed it, it was green. When it dried it turned blue again. I used a sponge to wash it to remove any coating that was causing it to be blue. I thought that was very strange. When I washed the green eggs they stayed green, wet and dry.
