Ok, I have two Embden geese and my female is very sweet but my male is very mean. But I have heard that we got the meanest geese of all the breeds. I think Geese in general are about as nice as chickens!

Hope this helps!

I was always scared to death of geese, but they really aren't that bad. If you raise them from goslings they will think you are their mama. My goose is nesting now, and she is a bit grumpier than usual. She will attack the dogs if they go near her nest, and she honks and hisses at me and my son, but she is still not aggressive. Her 'mate' also just hisses. I have 4 geese total, and the only one that has bitten me is the spoiled brat of an embden gander that stays in the yard. He is too chicken to go to the pond with the other birds, so he stays here and protects 'his' wagon. He doesn't attack, but he's not afraid of me either. If I stay near him too long, he will bite me....little brat!

Out of the 5 adults I have, 3 male, 2 female, all of the males will not let you get near them without some aggression. One of the females is also aggressive and the other female will let me touch her a little bit. None will chase me down so I guess they are not too aggressive. I have a rooster that will chase me down and try to peck at me which is a much more aggressive behavior. The geese just hiss and honk at me. One time one of them tried to bite and hit me but it is because I was stealing an egg... perfectly normal IMO.... I'd bite and hit someone for taking my kids

My geese live in the orchard and are primarily fed by insects and things that grow in the orchard, like grass. In the summer there will be a lot more bugs and lots of fruit for them. Also gooseberries and grapes and they will snack on all of that. We also supplement them with some grain feed that we just sprinkle about and they eat it. For my 5 geese, we usually give them about a Quart of grain feed a day and they usually don't eat it all and its more than enough.

I don't know the exact breed of all my geese. I think the friendly one is embden and the others are mixed.

I just want to check into a bit I have ducks an chickens right now.. but have always wanted geese... I like the way the toolouse look , an I know I spelled that wrong.

but we live on 120 acres so I thought what the heck,
what kinda feed do you start them on... gamebird feed...

how long do you keep gooselings under heat lamps?

My goose is very sweet, but my gander is very agressive and has caused some serious bruises on some members of my family that he snuck up on. In his defense, he was never like that until he went to the vets for medical care. I don't know what happened, but ever since he doesn't trust people. He can be managed, but it is a bit of work. If I were to get geese as a pet, i would get 2 females. My female is quiet and gentle, and lets you pick her up. I have tufted romans.
