Ok so a few months ago I rescued two Rouen ducks from someone that was just going to set them out. Well being flightless waterfowl I couldn't let that happen. Bought a $600 duck hut (chicken coop) spent another several hundred on fence, 4x4s pond stuff so they would be safe from predators. I was told it was male and female (Bonnie and Clyde) well after a few more weeks colors started to show and it became Bonnie-Bob and Clyde. My main issue now is that well it's spring and Bonnie-Bob is very very sexually aggressive towards Clyde. And aggressive toward my wife and I. If we walk away he lowers his head and tries to chase us. I fed him and gave him fresh water this morning and he was hissing and being aggressive as he has been these last few weeks. My wife actually had to put a baby gate in the duck hut last night to seperate them because bob was being so violent with Clyde . I have read several post that drakes need between 1-5 females a piece and I just don't have to space for all that. I guess my question is I have a local waterfowl rescue that would probably take Bonnie-Bob and find him a home with a bunch of female. But how easy is it to introduce 1-2 females to Clyde after taking his other away? Or should I even do that? Any other input on anything would be helpful

I think your going in the right direction. it would be best to let the local water fowl rescue take Bob and get at least 2-3 [3 would be ideal] ducks to go with Clyde he would be most appreciative I'm sure. But when you bring home the girls keep them separated with temp fencing for at least a week so they can meet with out Clyde going berserk right off the bat[oh them hormones]
Toss treats out so they associate being together as enjoyable then try letting them all be together and toss treats, mine go crazy for dried meal worms. Some do well with all drakes when I had just 2 drakes many years ago one was always sexually dominant over the other and made his life miserable. That is awesome you have a rescue close by.

Welcome to BYC and bless you for bringing these 2 boys home and saving their lives.
