Questions About Silkies

[Break an Egg]

Hi, I have 4 3 week old silkies and my husband wants to make them a separate coop from our EEs. He works at a welding shop and said he has a frame laying around that is triangular and 6 feet long.

I was thinking of something like this:

But my ? is can silkies learn to use the ladder?

Also, I have them in a brooder box with a perch and they haven't used the perch yet. I am wondering if silkies perch, because this will come in handy for the details of my coop.

It took them awhile, but mine eventually learned how to perch. It helps if they have another bird to teach them how. However, I wouldn't want to make anything they need to get to too high off the ground. Sometimes they will just jump instead of using steps.

But that's me probably being overly cautious. I do know that my adult silkies can handle up to a three foot drop because they'll jump off of the roosts instead of using the steps.
