questions about worming quail

my quails often go on the dirt/mud in the back yard and have never been wormed. they show signs of worms like weight loss and gaping fr breath. will d!e powder be sufficient enough to kill the worms and eggs and how often would i have to use it and hw do you you use it. thanks in advance.

No. DE will not kill worms or eggs. I use wazine 17 for round worms which a very common problem with birds. There are "broad spectrum" wormers that are more complex to use and more agressive.... But I have always had good results with wazine. Follow the directions about dosing. I believe its repeat after 10 to 14 days if i remember right. Just mix a bit in their drinking water and let them drink as normal.

Fat Daddy X2. DE does not work internally to kill worms or eggs. It loses it's properties of being razor sharp when wet. It does work well on external mites and bugs when you use it on floors, nest boxes or even the birds themselves.

I would suggest a good chemical wormer to remove heavy infestations of worms. As Fat Daddy has suggested, Wazine is an excellent wormer to use.

2 Tablespoons per gallon of water for 24 hours. (it helps to remove their water an hour before roosting the night before so they are nice and thirsty the following morning. Repeat in 10 to 12 days to get any eggs that have hatched. Do not eat the meat, eggs or hatch any eggs for 14 days after the last dose.
