So I have a first time broody. Moved her to a seperate cage. Temps are over 110 w/ index here. Now my Orp is in the nest box, she's been in there for almost 3 hours. It's seriously HOT in that coop. I saw her in there earlier and moved a fan in the window to point on her, just thought she was laying so no problem. Just went out to add ice and stuff for others and move the fan back to the broody and she is still here.
Does heat cause egg laying problems??? She's clucking some too. I took her out and dipped her feet in cool water, she got a drink and I offered her some cold snacks I had brought out for them, she didn't eat and headed straight back into the coop...
Is she think she's broody now too??? There are no eggs, so she hasn't laid today, worring that she might have a problem....

Yes, hard.
I'm worried she might have an egg stuck or something. I can't feel anything though.

Ok, she finally laid and is out of the coop and I think I've got her cooled down.
I'm still wondering does heat cause problem with them laying? She usually is only in there for 30min to an hr when she's laying so 4.5 hrs is quite odd...

Mine lay at half amount in summer, I get about 2/3 in winter and full production in spring and fall, unless they are in moult in fall then I get 1/3 production.
