Hi everyone in NYchicken lovers!
I'm a newbie to the forum. I live near Auburn at the start of the Fingerlakes region. Have some NH's ( love them!) a cuckoo Marans,EE,Light Brama and a RIR sweetie.
I have a couple of questions. I'll be traveling about 3-4 days in a couple of weeks back to NY. I want to bring some hatching eggs back with me and was wondering if you have any suggestions on how to do that. Since it will be in a motorhome and none too smooth a ride, I was thinking of maybe suspending them in their cartons inside another box and maybe suspending that from I don't know what! Any suggestions? I know that they should be probably at room temp and you need to rock them about 3times a day, right?
I've go lots of those packing peanuts......
Also, does anyone belong to The Fingerlakes Feathers Club? I tried to contact via e-mail that I found online and the address was bounced back to me. Anyone going to their show on June 3rd at the Fairgrounds?
I'd like to build up my flock with some Marans (BC) and Americanas'. I'm also interested in German New Hampshires. Anyone have any around?
The eggs I'm attempting to bring back are a hybrid of RIRxNHxLeghorn (so I'm told anyway) They are called "Cherry Eggers" and lay between 300-320 eggs a year. Anyone know of them? They are beautiful big birds, dark red with pretty darkish brown eggs.
Thanks,
Judy
