Has anyone here ever shown or had children that have shown Guineas? I have a small flock of 5 that I purchaced from the auction a few weeks ago. They have mites and I have to treat them. But the thing is I only wanted 3 or 4, more then that and they can get loud! My question is if my daughters can show them I might keep them all and keep two caged till mature and let the girls show them. BUT I noticed a two have ALOT of whit on their chests. Why is that I have had Guineas before and they didnt have this. Would this be considered a flaw? They are pretty young could use an educated guess on age so will post a pic or two. How besides the Buck-wheat can I tell who is the girls etc? I know there is atleast 1 girl but everytime I try to watch who is making what noise they shut up. They are not real verbal yet! These are not good pictures! They need to be tamed down a bit as who had them did nothing to tame them. I am going to treat for the mites and move them to a better more acessable cage and work with them! So these are the best pics I could get but as you can see one of them has a TON more white then some of the others!! Thanks!!!

yes you can show guineas and the white one is a pied they are harder to find then pearls.

as for age i'm thinking about 12 weeks maybe 14 weeks.

and i wouldn't keep them caged (half the fun of showing guineas is trying to catch them

I can offer no help on showing, I keep mine for entertainment lol, but I can help with color and age.

Like Aj said, the keets with white on their chest and wings are Pied Pearls. The others are just Pearls. (Or Pearl Grey)

I would have to agree with Aj on age, those keets look 11-14 weeks old to me.

Good luck on possibly showing them

HA HA no they are not tamed.. They are in a cage and screamed bloody murder!! Kicking and screaming clawing LOL. It wasnt pretty it took about 5 minutes each to get them to where I wasnt afraid that they were goign to get loose to get the pictures. I had a guinea that was so tame you could walk up to her pick her up pet her right in the horse pasture. I have to look for pictures I have of my kids just petting her loose in the pasture. She was a good guniea till the raccons got to her

Glad to know they are harder to find and its not a flaw. If it wasnt for the fact I love the blue eyes I was considering those to be rehomed if I needed to.

My Ds just showed his guineas at our county fair. He is able to hold them and carry them around. Everyone we come across is completely amazed by this. He was the only who showed this year, but a friend of my other Ds will be showing next year. Her guineas are pretty well tamed as well. The judges didn't want them out of the cage. I think they were afraid of them. LOL But as my Ds had the only guineas, he got 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Whenever I heard the guineas calling out it told them to stop and they did. My sister told me there were a few guineas at her fair in CT this weekend.
