quick going to feed store and hardware store poop board supplies question

Whats the best substance to use in the poop board,construction sand or play sand. Also so you add DE or anything to it that I need to pick up while I am out and about?

You know, I've not heard of a sand poop board. I suppose it would work. What many do is use vinyl tile, linoleum adhered to plywood or scrap piece of counter top directly under the roost like a shelf. For easier cleaning some even have a flap door to slid it out of coop and then scrap it clean with plastic smoothy or old taping/putty knife. Maybe that helps, at least bumps your post.

There was a thread recently about using Sweet PDZ, which I think is a horse stall drying type substance, sort of like sand. That's what I am planning on putting on my board/tray. You can easily scoop out the poop like you would from cat litter.
