I know about the pecking order between chickens, but do they include the owner (me) in the pecking order? Or no because I'm not a chicken? I have been curious about this but never thought to ask all you experts! So if somebody knows, I'd love to know too!
:wee

It's not the pecking order, because your not a chicken.
Have you been touching your chicken while she is eating, sleeping, or laying an egg?

They are pullets and haven't started laying yet, so no to the eggs, I sometimes gently pet them before I lock them up for the night, and rarely when she's eating. I also feed them by hand sometimes.

If that's directed at me, the answer is no. I don't pet, hold, hug, etc. my chickens. They don't want me to either. I open and close the pop door, bring food and water, I don't let them eat out of my hand or anything either. My dog and cat are for snuggling, my chickens are for breakfast ;)

No, the question was directed toward @ChickenGirl555. But, it's okay to hold and pet chickens. There's nothing wrong with that, as long as they're not eating, drinking or laying an egg or sleeping etc.

I know it's ok. My chickens weren't raised that way, so for them it causes stress and isn't something they enjoy.
