Quick Show Prep Question

I am getting a standard cochin cockeral ready for a show, he has long hairs standing up around his comb, is this because he is young (6 months) and it will grow in or does this need to be trimmed? Thanks for any info.

Not sure but, if I were going to show him I'd trim them. Just because it would probably look better!
