On average, when will a hen begin laying eggs? I mean around what age? I believe I have gold sex links, and another type that is black with gold plummage around it's neck and head. Just trying to get a ballpark of when to start expecting some eggs. Thanks for any input guys and gals. Have a great day.

Most people report that their hens start laying around 20 weeks old. However, some breeds mature slower. You can usually tell when they are getting close by the reddening of their combs. That said, I just got my first egg from my Serama and she is 9 or 10 months old! You sex-links shouldn't take that long. They are bred for egg production so they should mature rather quickly. My ISAs are only 10 weeks old and are already making "big girl" noises.
