hi im going to my local fair tomarrow and i need to know what would be the best hen i could buy for laying lots of eather brown or white eggs and can stand being cooped up?thx

Gold standard of efficient egg laying for white eggs is the white leghorn. Best brown layers are sexlinks... or production reds. Unlikly to find production layer types at the fair, but you never know. Probably be able to find leghorns though as they are not a cross.

If it's a small fair you might be able to see some sex links -- there was a trio of black sex links at the fair here this summer. Very small poultry entry though, so I don't think they were too particular about breeds as long as the kids did the work to show them (all 4-H).
