Ok, I just got two rabbits today. I've never had two together before. The male is older, and the female is only 2 months old. The breeder swears that when the male gets neutered (happening ASAP) he will stop humping the little girl.....is this a case by case basis, or do you think he will stop? If he doesn't stop, we are going to have to replace one of them with the same sex as the one we keep, because the whole point was for them to live together...

Here's a pic of them:

Not all rabbits can be friends. You can't just put two together and hope it'll be alright and they'll get along. At HopAlong Hollow, the local rabbit rescue, they spend days bonding rabbits. I'm not sutre how it's done, but if no one else can give you any ideas, I'll email her for advise. In the mean time, that big boy could be breeding your cute little girl....they breed like rabbits

I wouldnt have them together right now, she can get pregnant.
Ive only had a few cases of rabbits being friends, most of the time they dont bond, only fight andf breed.

The larger one can easily injure the smaller one. I'd separate them right away.

They've been together since the babies were weaned, they were not just introduced. The breeder put all the babies in with this male. They "get along" fine. The female is only 2 months old, the breeder said they don't reach sexual maturity until they are 4 months...is this correct, or not?

BTW, thanks everyone for responses!!

She can get pregnant and it would be bad because of how old she is. If you can separate until she is older, or until he is neutered that would be good. BTW they are cute.

Im sorry, but it doesnt sound like the "breeder" knows very much about rabbits and there breeding habits.
Its a risk to house males and females together, whether or not they are both at breeding age.
The male will still try to breed with the female, even if she is only 2 months, he doesnt care if she is "mature" or not.

Well, I called and talked to my friend / rabbit vet and his recommendation was to trade the female for the other male that was housed with this one. I called the breeder, and we are going to meet up this afternoon to make the swap.

Thanks again everyone for your advice.
